Handcrafted Oyster Serving Board – Made from Local Tralee Ash
Elevate your seafood dining experience with this beautifully handcrafted Oyster Serving Board, sourced from an Ash tree right here in Tralee, Co. Kerry. Designed with both function and elegance in mind, this board is perfect for those who appreciate fine craftsmanship and the natural beauty of Irish hardwood.
A Thoughtfully Designed Serving Experience
I originally created several Oyster Boards for Croí Restaurant in Tralee, who needed a better way to serve oysters consistently while preserving their natural juices. After some thoughtful research and careful experimentation, I developed the Oyster outline design—a practical yet stunning solution that allows oysters to sit securely in carved-out spaces while enhancing the presentation of the dish.
With six custom-carved oyster shapes, the board ensures your oysters stay in place, retaining their juices for a richer dining experience. Although each oyster varies in size and shape, the slots are designed to hold them steady and when the board is empty, the design still looks striking. The rough texture of the oyster cutouts mimics the feel of a real oyster shell, while the rest of the board is finely sanded to a smooth, silk-like finish.
Natural Beauty and Craftsmanship
Crafted from quarter-sawn Tralee Ash, this board features mesmerizing grain patterns, with a mix of light and dark wood tones and rippling effects that make each piece unique. The inclusion of dark heartwood adds a distinctive contrast, giving the board a truly artistic and one-of-a-kind appearance.
This particular board is part of a limited batch—number 2 of 2—so you're not just buying a serving board, you're acquiring a rare and exclusive piece of functional art.

Carefully Finished for Food Use
To ensure its durability and food safety, this board has been carefully coated with Hampshire Sheen Food-Safe Danish Oil x 4 coats, which enhances the wood’s natural beauty while providing lasting protection. The finish is durable but may require occasional reapplication depending on usage. Please note, this board is designed as a serving piece, not for cutting, to maintain its smooth and elegant surface.
