I have been wanting to make these for a while. Ordinary egg cups have a habit of falling over but these ones never will. There is also space for the top to sit while you eat your egg.
These set pieces are made from Spalted Beech from Co Galway.
Approximately 80mmx80mmx18mm and 80g in weight. Please allow for slight differences in measurements due to them being handmade.
The hole is approximately 38mm at the widest point and I have tested medium and large Irish eggs where the blunt end sits in the cradle. The pointy end will hit the bottom first and be loose so always sit the blunt end in first. There is a hole in the bottom to allow drainage.
These can also be turned upside down and used as a stand for round objects so they will never be without a use in your home.
This first batch of Flat Egg Cups is a mixture of Danish Oil and Hard Wax Oil. I was experimenting to achieve the best finish for this product as I know it will need to be washed after use.
After-care instructions are the same as all other wood products. See my After-Care page for details.
Keep liquids to a minimum. Wash with mild detergent and dry immediately with a towel. A food-safe finish will need to be applied after a few washes.
I have used a rubber egg for illustration purposes only.
