Handcrafted Irish Elm Bowl – A Rare Piece
Serve up salads, fruit, nuts, or popcorn in style, or let this exquisite handcrafted Irish Elm bowl be the highlight of your table. With its striking, ever-changing grain patterns, this bowl is a true conversation piece.
A Rare & Special Find
This bowl originates from Dunmaniheen, Killorglin, Co. Kerry, from an Elm tree that had to be cut back as it was hanging over the road and posing a public hazard. Elm is an exceptionally rare wood in Ireland, having been nearly wiped out by Dutch Elm disease. Additionally, unlike most of my pieces—where I salvage fallen trees myself—this wood was delivered to me, making it even more unusual.
Smooth & Food-Safe Finish
Sanded to a smooth, refined touch, this bowl is finished with a Food-Safe Danish Oil undercoat and a top coat of Osmo Oil, ensuring durability and a water-resistant surface suitable for food use.
