Acrylic lacquer spray is available in gloss or satin finish.
 
Chestnut Products acrylic lacquer is a water based lacquer which does not contain CFC’s. The drying time is slightly longer than that of the melamine lacquer spray, but it’s still only around 20 minutes.
 
It’s available in gloss finish, which can produce a high shine to the finished piece, or a satin option which produces a matt finish to your woodturning. Both finishes give a hard wearing surface.
Being a water based product, this lacquer spray conforms to EN71 and so is safe to use on toys which is a plus for anyone who turns wooden toys.
 
Acrylic lacquer spray can be used over sanding sealer, and should be applied in thin coats so the surface is slowly built up. For best results let the surface fully dry, then lightly sand and re-coat; once you have achieved a good even finish, Nyweb pads can be used and then followed by burnishing cream to give your work the finish it deserves.
Woodwax 22 can also be used over the top of the acrylic lacquer if you want to enhance the finish further.
When using acrylic lacquer sprays, a face mask and eye protection should be used.
